Nick Morris's new exhibition 'Beach Forest' is inspired by coastal Ancient Moonahs and the birdlife along the coast.
'I grew up holidaying in Point Lonsdale as a child and spent countless hours in the sand dunes and trails from the corner at Fellows Road down to Pig Farm and the images of the trees and landscape were indelibly etched into my mind. This exhibition ties back to a whole history on the coast and my connection to it.
I spent hours amongst the Moonah Forests and I am intrigued by the silhouettes that the forest creates. I am more interested in light and shade of the twisted branches and foliage, more so than any emphasis on colour which shows in this body of work.
The bird life always grabs my attention in my exploration and just had to be included in this exhibition.'
Since 2007, Morris has been fully dedicated to his art has been prolific and devoted ever since.
'I have been seriously painting for over 15 years. Best known for pop art screen printed works, a quiet metamorphosis has been been taking place in his studio for the last 5 years. After hitting the reset button and developing art towards a whole new style, incorporating paper acrylic, oil and wax pencil. The gravitation of hand painting has always been there and something I had to pursue.'
'I have featured in over 60 exhibitions both nationally and internationally and my work has been published in over 15 feature articles in various media and have been a finalist in many of the countries biggest art prizes'
